Inventory

The inventory module is the perfect tool to keep track of all your spare parts, inventory of hazardous materials, critical items, medial objects, and much more. As always, you will start with a completely blank screen.

Creating a new category

Right-click the white category/tree space to add a new category, or click the ‘New Part’ button. Regardless, you will need to add a category as inventory items require a link to one.

Adding or editing parts

We can now add a new part by clicking the ‘New Part’ button. You can also upload items in bulk, but we will discuss that later.

As you can see, the name of the inventory item is required (yellow). There are a few important fields that stand out from all the others:

  • Name – name of the item, e.g., lube oil filter
  • Category – category of the item, e.g., filters
  • Storage – physical location of the filter on board of the ship or location
  • Unit – unit of the item, e.g., pcs, liters, or kg
  • ROB – how many items you have, this is an abbreviation for ‘remaining on board’
  • Min and Max – the minimum and maximum number of items that you should have on board

Marking an item as ‘critical’, ‘hazardous material’ or ‘medical’ will result in the item showing up in said functions on the left as well.

Overviews

You can use the quick filters/overview buttons on top of the category tree to view the separate overviews:

  • Categories – a list of spare parts listed per category
  • Storage – a list of spare parts filtered on their physical storage location
  • Components – a list of spare parts filtered on the component they are linked to (grey = not linked):

Importing parts

The import parts function in Marad can be used for:

  • Bulk importing new parts
  • Bulk editing existing parts

To perform either of these functions, you need to:

  • Bulk import – select the ‘Download template’ option, add data, select ‘Browse’ and import the file again
  • Bulk edit – create an export of your spare parts in CSV format, or a selection of these

To bulk import, download the template and fill in the required fields. The name and category are always required. If you decide to fill in the price of the part as well, you will also need to fill in the supplier and currency.

The CSV file below shows all the data. You can now edit it, and then simply import the file again. Please note that the ID should not be changed, as it is needed to identify the parts which should be updated!
