Maintenance
In this lesson, you will learn how to perform basic maintenance tasks such as creating components, jobs, signing off jobs, accessing historic records, and updating counters. We start by opening the maintenance module.
Components
When opening the maintenance module of Marad, you will notice that it is completely empty. Our first task is therefore to add a component. You can do this by right-clicking the empty component view (white) -> ‘Add component’:

We can now enter the name of the component, as well as other data such as the manufacturer, condition, if the component is a counter, and more. We will start with setting up a basic structure first. You can add a sub-component by right-clicking an existing component:

Great, we now have a basic structure with a main engine!

To move a component, simply click it, hold it, and drag/drop it to another component.
- A green arrow means that the component is moved inside a component (sub-component)
- A blue arrow means that the component is moved below/above another component (relocating)

Jobs
You will notice that all of the indicators are yellow, meaning that there are (no) jobs assigned with no interval. We will now create our first ask, namely checking the lube oil filter. To do so, go to Maintenance | Component | ‘Add job’:

We can enter the job name (mandatory), type, and other data. The most important settings are:
- Type (interval = recurring based on time or run hour value, one time = will disappear after it is signed off, repair = same as one time, and docking as well)
- Time or counter (time = based on time interval, counter = based on run hour interval)
- Rank (which role/user group can sign off this job)
We want to check the lube oil filter every 500 hours. We link the job to our counter component by selecting these settings:
- Type = counter
- Counter = main engine
- Interval = 500 hours

We have now created our first job! This job will become ‘Before due’ (aka orange) 50 hours before the due at value, and will stay orange till its 50 hours overdue. Afterwards, it will become overdue (red):

To summarize: first we need to create components. This can be anything: a main engine, pump, MOB boat, filters, hatches, etc. Then, we add a job based on the type. We choose interval for recurring maintenance, and other types for one-time jobs. We can base the interval on time or counter values.
Signing off jobs
We have been sailing quite a lot lately, and the 500 hour interval has been reached. The job has become orange, so we must get to work! To sign off a job, simply click the box in front of the job:

A sign off screen will pop up at the bottom of the screen. Here, you can enter the performed date, performed hours, remarks, add documents, and even link parts. You can also enter the time it took to perform this job, as well as the costs.
Counters
We created a main engine and marked it as counter. This means that the component will show up in the counter list:

You can update the actual counter value. Marad creates a prediction based on historic records. This means that the prediction will be more precise each time you enter the counter values. For example, the average will be 100 hours a week if you enter an increase of 100 hours each week. Please note that Marad can automatically read the counter values of any modern equipment. This way, you do not have to update them manually.
